About

About Me:

My grandmother taught me to knit when I was young, but it's only been a serious part of my life for a few years.  I have some good friends of mine to thank, for making me realize that knitting isn't just for old ladies anymore (if it ever really was), and for helping me learn new techniques and offering inspiration along the way.  I'm also learning to crochet (thanks to the wonderful interwebs) and I have been known to cross-stitch from time to time.

I live in Toronto, Canada with my two girls, four cats, and my wonderful husband who patiently tolerates my yarn addiction.

I'm a self-diagnosed nerd, and I'm proud of it.  Some of my favourite obsessions (besides knitting) are science-fiction, ancient history, fantasy, mythology, and video games.  Halloween is my favourite day of the year (and also my anniversary), and I could happily live the rest of my life on grilled cheese, sushi, and nanaimo bars.

About the Family:

My minions darling girls
I have two beautiful daughters, Morgan (my Magpie) and Arya (the little Wolf-Pup).  The baby blankets I knit for each of them were what really started me down this path.  Morgan is eight, and eager to learn how to knit, while Arya is almost one and prefers to taste-test my yarn for me.

Caius, Arthur, and Socks during a brief truce
Between my husband and I, we have four cats -- my three boys, and his little girl.  Caius (pronounced Kay-us) is my furry soulmate, and loves to curl up in my lap -- despite the fact that he is almost twenty pounds and barely fits.  Merlyn, his brother, is rather dainty by comparison, and has literally been scared by his own shadow.  Arthur is...well, he's orange, and not very bright.  But he's the cuddliest cat I've ever met, and has tolerated both girls tugging at him with patience and dignity.  Socken (or Socks) is totally a Daddy's girl, and undisputed queen of our kitties.
